Tissue Box Cover by Scor-pal guest designer Penny Ward

tissue cover4
Hello my scrappy friends, Penny here again today with an adorable tissue box cover, originally designed by Scor-pal designer Diane Zechman.
How cute would this be for a teacher gift ?!? Everyone uses tissues in their homes and this quick cover would be appreciated by anyone on your shopping list. This one is decorated for everyday use, but think outside the box (I did not just say that). How about doing one all in white for a bride, or one in school colors for a college student, or maybe one with reading/book embellishments for your favorite library….the ideas are endless.

Grab your Scor-Pal, cardstock and…..
….. lets make a box.

Tissue cover1

Cut 2 pieces of white card stock at 5 1/8 x 9 1/2 inches. Score at 1/2 inch and 5 inches on each. Using Scor-Tape on the skinny edges, attach to each other forming a square as shown below.

Cut a square at 6 1/2 x 6 1/2 inches, score each side at 1 inch, cut a slit on each side from edge to score line as indicated in picture below.

Draw and cut a fairly large oval from the middle of this section. (You don’t have to be neat, the circle will not show in the finished box…as you can see, since I can not draw, I traced an oval from a die). Using Scor-Tape on small tabs, attach box top together (make sure small tabs are on the inside of the box).

Box is done…now let’s decorate it!!!

Cut Patterned paper or in this case I used Core’dinations card stock, stamped and heat embossed, then scored and sanded for a velvety finish.

Make your cuts at:
4 1/4 x 4 (you will need 4 of these)
4 1/4 x 3/4 (you will need 4 of these also)

Stamp, Score and sand then attach to sides of box and sides of lid.

Now cut:
4 1/4 x 4 1/4 for top of box.  Using a die cut in the center, then attach to lid top.

Using Scor-Tape on the inside edge of the lid, attach it to the box. (Now the whole thing will just slip over a square tissue box.

Embellish as desired.

Hope you have fun making your own box cover. Be sure to check this blog soon for more fantastic crafting ideas..
